Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 October 2026

This policy applies to byteandgear.com, operated as Byte & Gear. It explains the information involved in visiting our publication and contacting its operator.

Information from visiting the website

Byte & Gear does not require an account and does not run a newsletter signup, comment system or advertising analytics on this version of the site. Search runs within your browser using a local article index. We do not store a profile of your searches.

The site is hosted through Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes information such as IP addresses, request URLs, browser information and security signals to deliver content and protect its network. Its processing is governed by its own privacy information and service terms. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Information you send voluntarily

If you email us, your email service and ours process your name, email address, message and attachments. We use that information to respond to the enquiry, investigate a correction or handle the related business matter. Please avoid sending passwords, payment-card details or other sensitive information.

We retain correspondence only as long as reasonably needed for the enquiry, associated record keeping or a legal requirement. We restrict its use to those purposes and do not sell it.

Cookies and tracking

We do not currently set advertising, personalisation or analytics cookies. Hosting and security infrastructure may process technical information as described above. See our Cookie Notice for the site’s current approach.

External websites and commercial links

Articles link to manufacturers, support pages and, where applicable, merchants. Opening an external link takes you to a different service with its own privacy policy. An affiliate destination may use referral information or cookies to attribute a purchase. We do not receive your payment details from these websites.

Your choices and enquiries

You can restrict cookies through browser settings and decide whether to follow an external link or contact us. Depending on your location, you may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion or objection to the processing of your personal information. To raise a privacy request, use the contact method on our Contact page. We may need to verify that a request concerns your information.

Children and international services

The publication is intended for general adult readers making technology purchasing decisions. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children. Our hosting and email providers may process information in countries other than yours, subject to their applicable protections.

Changes

We update this policy when the site’s processing materially changes. The date at the top identifies the current version.
