Our editorial policy
Last updated: 7 October 2026
Useful buying advice should be clear about both its conclusion and its basis. This policy describes how Byte & Gear prepares and maintains its content.
Research and evidence
We use manufacturer product pages, technical specifications, official support documentation and relevant standards documentation as primary sources. Sources and a checked date appear in each article. Published specifications can change by region and configuration, so readers should check the exact listing before ordering.
Research-based product analyses are not hands-on reviews. We do not claim measurements, battery runtime, audio quality observations, durability results or personal product experience that we have not obtained. Manufacturer battery and performance claims are identified as claims, not our own findings.
Recommendations and tradeoffs
We organise advice around everyday scenarios and explain who should consider an option, who should choose something else, and where extra spending may not help. Recommendations reflect editorial reasoning; they are not guarantees that a product will suit every reader.
We do not assign numerical ratings without a documented and appropriate assessment method. We do not invent review counts or imply that a product received an award from us.
AI assistance and images
AI tools assist with drafting and organisation. Factual product claims are checked against the linked sources. Article cover images are licensed stock photography from Pexels, rather than AI-generated scenes. Each article links to the original photo page. These photographs illustrate a use case, do not imply photographer or subject endorsement, and are not evidence of testing by Byte & Gear. The pictured device may differ from the exact model discussed.
Commercial independence
Potential commission does not determine our conclusions. Affiliate links, when used, are disclosed near commercial recommendations and identified appropriately. Advertorials or sponsored articles, if introduced, will be labelled before the reader reaches the body of the content.
Updates and corrections
Each article includes a publication date and sources. We revise content when a material factual error, product change or compatibility issue is identified. A revision date will reflect substantive updates rather than cosmetic edits.
If you spot an error, contact us with the article URL, the disputed statement and a reliable supporting source. We assess the evidence and correct verified errors. See Contact.
